Both psychiatrists and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners (PMHNPs) are qualified to evaluate, diagnose, and treat mental health conditions, including prescribing psychiatric medications. Psychiatrists are medical doctors (MDs or DOs), while psychiatric nurse practitioners are advanced practice registered nurses with specialized graduate-level training in psychiatric care.
At New Season Psychiatry, Matt Peculis, PMHNP, provides personalized psychiatric evaluations and medication management, focusing on understanding each patient's unique needs and developing an individualized treatment plan.

Your initial psychiatric evaluation at New Season Psychiatry is an opportunity to discuss your mental health concerns, symptoms, medical history, and treatment goals in a supportive, judgment-free environment.
During your appointment, your psychiatric provider will review your current symptoms, previous diagnoses, medications, medical and family history, and other factors that may influence your mental health. Together, you'll discuss potential diagnoses, treatment recommendations, and whether medication management may be appropriate. Matt pays special attention to personal experiences with medications and works with each patient to fine tune treatments for their body.
Our goal is to ensure you feel heard, informed, and actively involved in decisions about your psychiatric care.
-
The frequency of psychiatric medication management appointments depends on your individual needs, treatment plan, and how you're responding to medication. Patients who are starting a new medication or adjusting their dosage typically benefit from more frequent follow-up visits, often every 2–4 weeks, to monitor effectiveness, address side effects, and make any necessary adjustments.
Once symptoms are well-managed and medications are stable, appointments can often be spaced further apart, typically every 1–3 months.
At New Season Psychiatry, we believe in personalized care rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. Matt works collaboratively with each patient to determine an appropriate follow-up schedule that supports their mental health while respecting their time and lifestyle.
